VINTAGE BLACK & WHITE TRIBAL TRADE BEADS

Nearly a century ago, on the edge of Venetian canals, an artisan carefully crafted each bead that adorns these strands. From his skilled hands they made their way south, sailing along the southern coast of Malta and across the Mediterranean to the shores of North Africa. Whether they landed in Tunisia or Morocco matters little: they made their way over the sands of the Sahara, through the grasses of the Sahel and into the tropical jungles of West Africa, where their black and white patterning became a pop of contrast in the dense green foliage of the wearer. Over time their surfaces became chipped and pitted, evidence of their long history.

Each strand is made of individually crafted antique glass beads and strung together on a heavy-spun vintage cord. They can be worn as-is or restrung on cording material of your choice.
